Another crime stopped by watchful eyes?

I received an email from a friend:

FYI - this morning 3 adult males in an old brown Cadillac were observed cruising up and down the local alleys. 911 was called (by a watchful citizen) and a squad car was sent out. The subjects were caught in their car sitting in the driveway of a house on 108th and Whipple, pretending that they lived there.

Can anyone verify this? Were they arrested or just slapped on the wrist and sent on their way?

**Update: they were not arrested they were detained, questioned and sent on their way.

Again, please be careful and observe your surroundings. Keep your doors locked. I know a lot of times my house looks empty, but my kids are home.

Who called? Where did your "friend" get this info/email that you received? You can always call 022 and find out. Also, going back to "watch your back" blog about a robbery on 100th around western, were you ever able to confirm that information you posted? I looked into that and was unable to find anything relating to that incident involving the CPD. Are you sure about this info "friends" are sending you? Maybe before putting it on your blog it might be better to check your information through the 022nd District desk or CAPS office. That way you know what's B.S. and what's not before you put it up. I'm sure you don't want people in and around 60655 to start getting paranoid or panicky over stories that aren't even true. Just a suggestion.

This "friend" is anonymous, just as you posted anonymous. I trust this information. I will look into it further, but I am a normal person, not a cop, not a reporter, not the alderman and not the mayor. I don't have a crystal ball to tell me what is true and not true. I just try to tell what is going on in the neighborhood, good and bad. This is a blog, a place for people to comment about the neighborhood. To tell what they know. I want to believe what my neighbors are telling me. This is not a news website, because if it was I would get paid to do this.

I do appreciate your advice though and will try to confirm stories before they go up. Other than the unconfirmed items, I hope you find the blog informative.

The info posted about 100th & Western is TRUE. If you do not believe me then head into the liqour store when you get a chance and ask the owner since it was his store that was broken into.

There are probably numerous people on this board who post things that are ture but for reasons (job and location in which they live) they can not post their names because just like all the pols say in the paper "qouting a source who knows but is not been given the permission to release the info give"

There are enough CPD people who are reading this blog that we can confirm or deny anything that's on here. I see the reason for this site is that exact reason. The person who has started this site has done us all in 60655 a favor so why don't we stop whining about them checking their sources and help out with our own sources. Not only PO's but CFD, S&S etc can ALL help out with info. If we want to keep our neighborhood safe and free from 1's who want to destroy it then we all have to work together.

FYI. My brother was the one who spotted that brown caddy when walking the dogs and contacted the police so that information is absolutely true! What the police did after that, I am not sure. Thanks for starting the blog, I enjoy reading it.

First let me start by saying I'm the one who mentioned to verify things before putting them up. I said it, as I stated before, only as I don't like to see people worry about things unnecessarily. I made a typo when I typed 100th and Western. I meant to type 110th & Western, the incident involving some brothers that were robbed outside their home while exiting a car. I did some looking into it and didn't find anything. That's all I said. I may have missed it. I'm not pointing fingers. I'm not calling anyone a liar. I know you aren't the mayor. I obviovusly ruffled your feathers and those of all of your supporters. It's hard for people to understand you when you type and aren't talking face to face. Trust me, I love your site and I enjoy reading it. But, having worked where I do I know for a fact when people hear or read things all of the sudden it becomes gosple and they spread it like wildfire. People love to gossip. We all love our neighborhood so we don't want the wrong information out there. On the other hand I agree we must all be very aware of our surroundings at all times. I was not by any means whining, nor do I trying to tell you how to run your blog. As I stated before it was only a suggestion to look into it. I said this because I was hoping your sight weasn't going to turn into a rumor mill like the SCC blog. So there you have it 60655. I hope this is a bit more clear. Again, as I type this I say this all calmly, respectfully, etc. You are doing a nice thing here. Keep up the good work. Please don't let it turn into a rumor though like the other blog. Thanks and be safe.

Thank you for clarifying your intentions. You are right in the respect that words typed do not represent the emotion and expression intended. Like I said earlier, I will try to confirm before posting, but I have trust the information sent to me. You would be amazed by the comments that come across here that are NEVER posted. Thank you for your support and help in looking into these incidents. As a neighborhood united and well informed, hopefully good work can be done, restaurants patronized, and dare we hope? Walgreens completed?

My husband told me about a group in a Caddy matching your description on our street Wednesday. They pulled in front of our house (107th and Albany) and started honking their horn. After about five minutes my husband got suspicious and walked outside with our dog, like he was going for a walk. When he walked outside, he asked who they were honking for and they just said they must be at the wrong house. They then backed down the street and he saw them pull in the alley between Albany and Whipple.
