I predict the Olympic dream becomes reality and it is our worst nightmare for years to come.
I predict that our schools get worse and taxes get higher.
I predict crime will increase as the economy busts some more.
I predict the Cubs win the world series, finally.
I predict the Bears come colse and make the NFc champion game but lose.
I predict a hard line on Extreme islamists this year. The west will put the pedal to the medal and clean house around the world in 09.
I predict a increase in home sales and a pick up on the economy for Beverly and Mount Greenwood.

I predict more economic stuck in the mud for the next year or 2 before it returns to something decent.

I predict Ginger will be reelected in 2 years.

I think we are getting the Olympics. Dont know if its good or bad.

I predict war with Iran. Not a ground invasion but a very intense and protracted air campaign. I predict oil supplies will be interrupted and we will pay over 5.00 a gallon for gas.

I predict that the evergrowing battles of Afganistan will soon evolve ito the invasion of Pakistan demanding the involvement of 2,000,000 American troops.
I predict that someday, Americans will begin to question why are we involved.

I agree with all of those predictions accept the hard line on extremist Islamists. I predict that Obama will do nothing but appease these pieces of crap. He would like to treat the terrorists in Guantanimo bay like citizens of the U.S. and at the same time he will let an innocent baby that survives a botched abortion die by not giving the child medical care. This guy and the rest of the liberals in the house and senate, will destroy whats left of any kind of decency in this country.

I predict that the citizens of Mt. Greenwood will be forced to sacrifice the beat car 2211 will be sent out of the district every weekend by our great police superintendent. ms. Rugaui could care less about the citizens of Mt. Greenwood, we have no police service, no ambulance service and now no snow plows.

This neighborhood will be a ghetto with in the next ten years.

Such negative predictions! How about this one.
I predict the Mt. Greenwood community will finally have enough of the negative things that are taking over our community and do something about it. First by getting an alderman who actually wants the community to succeed, by cleaning up the neighborhood, by stopping the overtaking of our community homes and churches by St. Xavier, by letting the criminals know that we're not going to let them bring us down, by putting pressure on state and local government to get us cops where we need them (and keep them here), by getting a Mt. Greenwood "redevelopment corp" that really does something and by establishing and patronizing some decent businesses on 111th and on Kedzie. Come on, people, we are the architects of our own destiny. If we don't want to lose Mt. Greenwood then let's take a stand and make sure we don't.
Any suggestions? Letters to the Mayor, the alderman, chief of police? Petitions? Community groups? I know some of you have some great ideas and resources!
Happy New Year!

I predict Mt. Greenwood Park will become either a city dump, or inland lake, also 111th st. will lose business not gain them because of Rugai and taxes, also the fields behind the Ag. school will become low income housing and the ball fields will become basketball courts.

Watching the invasion of Gaza on CNN.
The Israelis learned their lessons well from the Nazis. There is no excuse for killing women and children.

Whats wrong with St. Xavier? They do nothing but add to the neighborhood.

I predict George Ryan will have two new cell mates in 2009. Blogo & Richie Daley, if Fitzgerald don't screw it up!
The new Walgreens at 111th st. will get built, and then get burned down when riots breakout after "Berry" Obamas impeachment.

In "2009" Burrito Station will become the next big franchise, bigger then McDonald's even!
Toilet paper stocks will reach an all time high, and Mayor Daley (in an effort to get in on this hysteria,) will have to put locks on the sewer lids to keep Burrito station employees from stealing their #1 selling burrito filling.

You are right, the Israelis did learn well from the nazis, NEVER let it happen again! Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel for months from civilian homes, schools and masques thinking the Israelis would not retaliate because of the civilians, they were wrong. Watch FOX NEWS not CNN and you will get the truth. God bless President Bush for eliminating another Hitler, Saddam Hussein!!!!!

I am amazed that a negative comment was said about St. Xavier University. So many of us attend or have attended this fine institution. Quite frankly I would rather see the university taking occupancy of these homes in our community for their community relations or students rather than the section 8 neighbors that could be moving in. Think about it.....

I think the comment posted about St.Xavier buying up property in the neighborhood was not bashing the university, it's a great university. I think it was just bringing attention to the fact that St.Xavier has been buying up Churches and houses whenever possible. The Church at 105th & Spaulding is going to be used as the art studies department. They have also bought the Church at 110th & St. Louis. And I've heard they have an interest in buying the Church on 111th & drake also. I don't view it as such a bad thing, but there will be increased traffic (Foot and auto) around these buildings on our residential streets with classes running well into the evening. I do think the University should consider the effect that these satellite locations will have on the families are living close to these facilities. There will be a lot of people walking around and you will not know if they are there for a class, or maybe just some clown that's up to no good. I think that St. Xavier would be better off finding a way of keeping classes on campus. And for the students to have to commute off campus to a class is very inconvenient.

Love Saint Xavier, but selling the property that Tally's corner sub division sits on was a pretty bone head move. Imagine what they could have done with that space. I wonder what it would cost to buy all those houses up?
