Tuition is steep, but worth every penny. Not many of Chicago's movers and shakers are graduates of the Chicago Public Schools. Hell, even Barack chose not to send his kids to the CPS.

Anyone have any info on the local parish football parties? Times/dates/cost etc.

I know that w few parishes have thrown these parties in the past and was wondering if they are doing any again this year?

They always seem to be a good time in a relaxing enviroment with friends and you do not have to deal with any bar crowds

I know St. John Fisher is having a party in their Kane Hall, I believe it's $25, including food and drinks. (Don't quote me on that) I'm sure info will be in their church bulletin next week. If anyone knows Jackie Long, I believe she is running it.

Why are the comments closed regarding the policeman? Just asking. I live in the area and am just looking for some more information.

Erin McEldowny passed away suddenly last week. Her family is in our prayers.

The only reason why we don't have any good public high schools in our area is because of the people that continue to get ripped off by the "Religious" Schools in this area. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if it ever came out that these schools were handing out kick backs to the aldermen as to keep a decent public high school out of our neighborhood.

Wrong! We dont have decent high schools beacuse we are predomi. WHITE. Every neighborhood that changed from white to brown or black in the past 10 years have a several new schools. Some because there are so many Illegals having babbies in these areas we need to fund new schools. They just dont all fit in the old ones. We have the Agg. That they ship in to and deny access to by our kids. They feel we can buy our education while we fund everyone elses hot lunches and bus rides. Get used to it Majority, white folks. Majority ? I dont see that ?!"

Are kids from Mt.Greenwood even allowed to go the Ag school? Would you send your kid to Morgan park or Bogan? If it wasn't for the private High Schools in this area, there would be generations of dumb-asses walking our streets, I should know, Morgan park H.S. class of "82". I cut half of my classes on any given day, nobody called my parents about it. I was actually told by a teacher, (he is most likely calling the shots on Pershing road now), "As long as your butt is in Division class, you can do whatever you want". Nice school system. Morons.

The only way you can go to the Ag School is if you went to Mt. Greenwood for grammar school... If you went to parochial, you have to go to MoPo

the writer at 5;55 am was up too early and needs to go back to sleep. It sounds like he may have flunked out of mo po. Not a deep thinker.

i've heard so many great things about mt. greenwood school. the new principal runs a tight ship. she is young and will be around for a long while. people really should think long and hard about paying all the $$$$ for the catholic schools and check out mt. greenwood. their scores are excellent...and is that not what it is all about...good scores, and highly qualified teachers who know the illinois standards inside and out especially when it comes to math, reading and science while keeping up with the times and new and innovative ways of teaching? it seems to me the people that talk up the catholic schools are the ones that have the catholic school guilt that was laid upon them during childhood and that really is not helping their children today. mt. greenwood school's discipline is comparable to a catholic school minus the plaid uniform. so why not send your child to MGW get one hell of an education and ccd on saturday ... your kid will be set for life! just because you pay a pretty penny for something does not mean you are getting what you paid for.

rumor has it about 800 kids tested for Marist with only 500 spots available ... where will the kids that do not make it go ???

I have one at Marist. The year he tested there was 600 spots and 1000 testers. You test at Marist if you want to go there, but if you don't make it in, the other schools will still accept you. I went by today at the same time testing was over and it was a traffic jam...crazy.
