It's legit. A sent this to a guy I work with whose daughter is in 5th grade and gets straight A's. He went to a Best Buy in his area where they called their headquarters because management knew nothing about it. Headquarters confirmed it is legit, but only some stores honor it. They gave him 2 locations in Chicago and one was the Ford City store and the other is up north.

Trevor,
I’m the one who sent this info to this blog. I got this off the “Detective SLC” Police blog and forwarded it to "inandaround60655." I figured that although a $21 maximum is not a tremendous amount of money, to a kid it could be a big deal and a nice way to reward our children for working hard to get good grades.

When I read your inquiry, I was afraid that I was inadvertently responsible for causing someone some embarrassment because this information was not valid. Please believe me when I tell you that it was never my intention to mislead anyone in any way and would never want to hurt a kids spirit by getting their hopes up only to disappoint them, but to be honest, I didn’t check the validity of this out prior to posting, and I most certainly should have. As a rule, I’m pretty vigilant about researching things before I post them or make a statement, and this one could have easily backfired this time because I didn’t. Please excuse my carelessness and it won’t happen again.

I just called the Best Buy at 76th & Cicero in Burbank and was relieved to hear that this is, in fact a legitimate offer. The young lady I spoke with said that the child had to accompany the parent, and they had to submit the “original” report card at the customer service desk to receive this offer. I asked her if this offer was good at all Best Buy stores, and she said she believed it was, but wasn’t 100% sure.

So if this is the reason you wanted to know who submitted it and you’d like to check this out for yourself, you can call that store at (708) 229-0065 and hit option #3 for customer service.

Good luck to all our A students and let’s let them know that we’re all proud of their accomplishments.

Hey Jim..... thanks for tip and checkin it out.... but did you happen to get the name of the young lady you spoke with @ the BB located in FC.....thought it might be easier to be armed with her name if anyone is going to take advantage of this offer..... (i'm sure the left doesnt always know what the right is doing).... different times of day.... different employees..... thanks again......

Oh, I wasn't trying to prove legitimacy. But, you proved it for the most part. A free $21 is a lot to the normal kid. That's an awesome offer. I just wanted to know if Best Buy was promoting it or it was an "under the radar" promotion. Thanks for the detailed reply Jim. Much appreciated.

No I didn't get her name, but it would probably be a good idea to call ahead of going.

Passed this info on to my sis-n-law. She stated BB in Countryside was un-aware of promotion but the one in Ford City acknowledged the promotion. Both my nephew and niece received gift cards accordingly. Thanks again Jim......... :)
