Fat Tommy's is Open

Fat Tommy's is open and looks good. The new location is way bigger than the old one, with tons of seating.

The menu has been e x p a n d e d and they are now serving Breyer's Ice Cream.

There is to be outside seating coming soon.

Check it out. They are located at 3031 S. 111th Street (the old Veggie Bite location), across from Founder's Bank.

I dont want to sound negative but here goes, Tommys was way overpriced back when it was a shack. I am afraid to see what they want for a boiled hot dog now. In these hard times we need cheaper fast food, or just dont buy it anymore

Alot of complaints from people who stopped there on Saturday. Food not cooked right, items missing, orders taking forever to prepare. Not a good way to reopen a business.

I don't want to bash Fat Tommy's, I want to see every neighborhood business succeed. But so what if he's selling ice cream? There's an awesome Ice cream place off homan. I took the kids there a couple of times and it's great. The owner seems like a really nice guy and treats the customers well. Product is good and price is right. I ran into a friend in there who was there just for the chili. He talked it up so much, I had a bowl while the kids ate their sundaes. Gotta tell ya- pretty darn good. Great place for a team to go after a game, too.
PS. Thanks 60655- blog is great!

yada yada

nice guy, clean business. already painted it and looks better. a.k.a. a responsible business owner. Wasn't open Saturday, I was there, he was serving people who walked in trying to work out kinks.

perhaps we should stick to the nice cell phone, acupuncture, and nail places that improve the area so much, and are as filthy as all get out.

Jr Boz's is a great place.

Sweet Escapes is a great place.

These businesses want to work together, let's give it a chance.
let's give they guy a chance, he really is a good guy.

thanks 8:06. I went Saturday and it wasn't open until later in the afternoon. He has doubled the size of his business, changed locations, changed the menu, new people working, give him some time. The food was good. As for $1.95 for a hot dog, you pay that anywhere now a days.

At least the location looks good, better than being empty. That strip of stores between Whipple and Albany (all empty) is an eyesore, so be grateful that people actually want to open businesses on Kedzie. Kudos to Fat Tommy's and all the businesses who stay and make their locations look good.

Oops, I meant 111th street.

I went there Friday and it was pretty good ... not much changed except the location ... expanded menu ... it was very affordable so I don't know what May 6, 8:52 is talking about ... probably the owner of POP's which by the way is no where as good as it used to be ... best beef sandwich in the neighborhood is at Marco's located by Cardinal Fitness, and Dan at Fat Tommy's will listen to your suggestions too ... So good luck Danm I will be back ...

I agree with 8:52 AM, they are over priced and I don't know how but they sure can mess up a dog. This blog voted Pop's best ??What??
They are ok but again way over priced. When I moved into this neighborhood I couldn't believe how all the food joints were higher priced. I guess it's the price you pay to live in a nice neighborhood. I tend to cook more since I've moved here, save money and you know what you are eating.

They need to come up with some specials and advertise locally with coupons.

Fat Tommy's is not good, clean, or cheap. You are far better off taking a ride to Wild hog, 149th & Pulaski, for some REALLY good food. I wish Wild Hog was on 111 st. where Fat-Ass Tommy's is. But they'd have more sense than to open up in this City. That's part of the reason they are so successful, and Fat Tommys is just another fly-by-night Mt. Greenwood greasy spoon fast food joint.

Pops Beef is really not that great, it's really quite dry beef. Could be much better, but afterall, it is Mt. Greenwood..

these guys think that just because they can cook chili at the firehouse, that they can actually cook. WRONG....

For may 4 8:oo pm, this is about 60655. Fat Tommy's might not be the best, but he didnt run to some shabby burb because of taxes or low-income clientel looking for a cheap dog. He stayed here and turned a dump into an ok place to get a bite to eat
