What do you want on 60655 blog?

I get a lot of email bashing the site....oh well, so be it. This site is actually for all of you, so what would you like to see on the site. I have my people who love the polls and those who don't. Someone out there loves the hangman game. What do you like or dislike that you want to see added or deleted. This blog has been up for almost 5 months and is still a work in progress. Thanks to all of you who contribute.

I think the site serves the purpose ... but it's a free country ... I say delete the bashers and let them start their own blog ... This site provides a lot of good info. and a place for people to vent ....

Bash the site ? Don't listen to the haters. This is YOUR blog, those who don't like it too bad. Keep doing what you do, it's a great blog.

Is it really bashing if the 60655-er's want to bring about change in a neglected area of the 19th ward? Our community is growing and changing every minute. We need to move forward by knowing what our past and current situations are. More schools, better city services, a voice when the city raises our taxes or sells off our assets, better park services and programs and businesses that meets our communities needs. We are tired and we don't want to take it anymore. The only time we hear things are being looked into is election time. Then, when it is oer, all is forgotten. We have been forgotten.

i mean, obviously, you aren't going to please everyone. there are a lot of people on here who are ill-willed and lack tolerance towards anyone/anything. i say keep doing what you're doing, put things on here that make you happy and what you feel is beneficial in the name of the 60655 readers that appreciate your work in maintaining the blog.

Thanks for the support. I just want to be focused on what the majority want to see. Suggestions are always welcome and I want people to feel that even though I run the blog, everyone has a voice in contributing.

9:20 - that is exactly what this site is about, and community. The bashing that I spoke about was more directed personally at me. Thanks for reading and contributing.

You are doing a fabulous job and it is a treat that you have started this. I enjoy the fact that you let free speech happen on here. The fact that you are telling us about your bashers proves that. Keep up the good work and bahsers are cogs in the machine as well, just take em with a grain of salt.

I think it is a great blog. I also feel that the bashers are really only one or two people who pretend to be more and hope to stir up trouble. I would like to see a neighborhood police officer keep us up to date on crime in the neighborhood, the Southtown has nothing and the Beverly review is minimalistic. I like hearing ideas for businesses and possible alderman candidates. I also like being able to discuss the issues.

I like the site and think you are doing a great job. Yes there is going to be some negativity thats because there are some problems and people get frustrated with the lack of leadership in our communitty. Our elected leaders need to do more. The blog is great at putting out information and exchanging ideas. Thank you. In and Around 60655

Does anyone know of any coed softball leagues around the area that play their games in the morning?

I'm looking to enroll my children in a martial arts class or school. Does anyone know a good place? Or a place I should avoid?

The best part of the site is when an incident happens in 60655 and instead of the liberal news giving their watered down slant on the story (if they even cover it at all) we hear the truth from some of the actual "in the know" folks who live/work in the neighborhood. I say in times of peace keep the polls coming and the dentist talks and the new restaurant openings, so the blog is up and running when the poo poo hits the fan. One day (God forbid) there might be a real need for the people of 60655 to take action and I know this blog will inform our little corner of the protocol! You're more vital than you know In and Around.... Keep up the good work!

Name some people to run against Rugai. Can a cop run for alderman?

A neighborhood Credit Union that could offer better rates than a bank would be nice.

I think the site is good. Perhaps, sometimes too much whining, but what can you do about that. It is kind of like TV turn it off, skip it, etc. Sometimes, which I would probably do it all the time, you get a little defensive, and that is unfortunate that you have the need to take the defense. (Like I said I would do it all the time). I think you run a good blog, and I find out a lot about the neighborhood, from someone who truly is a volunteer. So in other words, you're fine, keep up the good work!

Dear Mayor Daley and 50 City Alderman,

You first! All of you need to take a 6% pay cut and 16 unpaid days off first then we will talk. Yours gets restored when our does.

Dear 60655 Blogger,

Is this your first time writing?? Writers all the time, have their words edited, hacked, and criticized. Seems like this is a new venture for you, so toughen up a little. Back in the days of the newspaper, every beat reporter was afraid of their editor. In the publishing world, editors have the power. In today's internet/blog age, readers have become like editors - letting you know when you are on point, and when you miss the mark. Enjoy the feedback, and thicken the skin.

Sincerely,
Another Writer

Yes, it's my first venture into anything like this. I have the personality of wanting to please everyone, all of the time. The skin is starting to thicken up quickly. However, this post was more for letting people know that I want their opinion on what they would like to see. Thanks for your comment!

With the new Walgreens being built on 111th and Kedzie are they going to do something about the constant heavy traffic, how about a new lane configuration? Something has to be done. I have spent more then 10 minutes trying to get through that light.

~~ IDEA FOR A POST: POLITICS ~~

It is not in the nature of politics to elect the best person since, by definition, the best man or woman does not desire to govern their fellowmen.

Given this general truth, the office (through the citizenry) should seek the official, rather than the official seeking the office.

In and around 60655, there are many talented individuals who express their devotion to our community through acts of volunteerism. Let's recognize their commitment.

Start a post seeking comments that identify individuals who display the traits we seek in a public servant. Let's help the office find its official.

In making this recommendation, I cast no judgment on our current alderman, state representative, state senator, or U.S. congressman. But all four are regularly re-elected with little or no competition. Such an incumbent-driven system handicaps public administrative efficiency and retards progress.

So, please allow your blog to help our community find the most dedicated and qualified among us.

I agree. Traffic is terrible at that location. About 2 years ago Rugai held a meeting regarding this intersection at the Ag school. Tons of people showed up. It was actually about any problem intersections in the area. Many people voiced their displeasure and were informed that a committee and outside company were working on solutions. What everbecame of that? Does anyone remember that meeting? I went.

I would say the first guality should be honesty, fairness, intelligence. The person should be able to think on their own, not for Daley.

Second City Wifey

Check out this new blog. It does not have many comments but it very good.

Yes please-check out my blog! I am new to blog land but have lots to offer. I never shut up and am a magnet for drama-mostly the kind I can help out with though. I have not advertised my blog much , I have mostly been checking out others like this one. I hope to get more action soon on my blog but if anything it helps to just vent into cyberland sometimes. I must admit I have recycled some of my own posts..LOL. I just did not want anyone to miss some since I went crazy posting when I first got my blog up! Keep up the good work 60655.

Signed

Nothing can be done about the traffic at 111th and Kedzie accept no parking at peak rush hours. Or maybe tearing all that junk down and backing the buildings off the street 20 feet. Or maybe they could put in one of those eye catching overpasses that use to grace the corner of Ashland & Archer. Let's face it, there is very little off street parking, so if you restrict parking during rush hours, businesses will die. You can't tear everything down and start over. It is what it is, like it or not. I have lived here all my life and nothing much has changed in regards to the traffic over the past couple of decades. We will always have trains and the bottle necks in Mt. Greenwood.

Anonymous said...

Nothing will be done about traffic. It was a hot issue once and promies were made and not kept. Same thing will be happening for more schools in our area. NOTHING! Maybe in 10 years we will have a sign that says "coming soon. New school." just like Walgreens. The only way to get any action is to continually call the alderman's office and hit the press with articles. The politicans are drawn to media exposer like light to a moth. Then they want credit for doing nothing and a plaque.

little known fact Drew Peterson is Ginger Rugais 2nd cousin

Don't wait for traffic, just shoot down one of the alleys on either side of Albany! If you can't deal with the speed bumps in the alleys, just drive north on Whipple. Albany. or Troy, but be sure to exceed the speed limit. Oh, if you happen to run my kid over, we'll settle out of court.

-- Now someone is complaining because people drive down alleys? GO LIVE IN THE SUBURBS! Hell yeah I will drive down an alley if I choose. Alleys are for CARS, not kids. Your kid has parks, sidewalks, lawns, etc for playing. Streets and alleys are for moving vehicles.

Who ever made the unfortunate comment that if you "Run my kid over, we will settle out of court." Might I ask what you will settle for, a wheel-chair, crutches, or cemetery plot? Use your head before your print something so foolish...

could something be done about the constant traffic jam every workday on 111 St??? There is still no turn arrow at 111 and Kedzie. It takes me longer to get from 111st. and Sacramento to 111 and Pulaski than it does for me to get to 111 and Western from the east side of Chicago. Dopey Rugai has all the side streets closed so nobody can take an alternate street.

It would be really good if people could report on where the drunken punk kids [underage ]drinkers] and troublemakers are hanging out on weekends, and if the 022 District Police could monitor the blog. These drunken underage kids are a nuisance and stay out till all hours in summer on weekends, drinking and causing trouble. I know they like to hang around in the alleys by Wiseguys Pizza [crappy pizza], and by TR's. Is there somebody buying alcohol for them illegally in that area? Keep your eyes peeled for this kind of nonsense we don't need at all.
