Sorry about posting delays ~ I'm on vacation

I took some vacation days so posting will be sporatic.

FYI - Went camping. If you like camping, you have to try out Potato Creek State Park in Indiana (near South Bend). Huge lots, SUPER clean bathrooms with hot showers, nice lake for fishing with beach, pets welcome, playlots, hiking, biking, and much more...$17.00 per night for tent camping. I'm not so much a tent camper, but with a good air mattress, I didn't want to go home. The stars were unbelieveable. Two hours away and I felt like I was in another world. Then I came back, ugghhh.

Water park tomorrow. This is my staycation. Yeah me!

Turkey Run State park in Marshall Indiana, outside Indianapolis is a great place to camp. You can canoe there, go horseback riding and they also have modern facilities as well as primitive campsites with pit toilets for those who like to rough it :(
There are cabins available but they are not pet friendly like the campsites.

Green River Oaks Campground in Amboy,Il......Very Clean

I go into Minocqua Wisconsin into the Northern Highlands woods, it is a blast out there. It around a 6 hour drive and some of the sites are rugged (no electricity, no water, and are walk ins those are the ones we do). That is a totally different world up there. Plus it is so far away from all my problems.

I have family that rents out cabins at Potato Creek every year for their family reunion. They love it. Very clean lots to do. They stay their for a week at a time. If you want cabins you have to book like a year in advance. Maybe next year I might hike up their to spend some time and check it out!

All those calls came out within 5 mins of each other. No car availble in 022 no car even assigned on west half of district. Yeah ginger your doing a great job we need police service. Any police ofc can confirm this 60655 is without any police service.

Well, their answer at the last CAPS meeting I attended (about a year or longer ago) Sgt. Blum said sometimes we just have to police ourselves. They actually suggested the residents go out on patrol ourselves as a crime deterrent which may work for most situations but there is always going to be that one time...
The beat cops in this area will tell ya straight out that they are constantly responding east (Roseland) for the shootings, stabbings, etc. Ambulance 17 used to be right over there with them most of the time until the city finally put A60 in service at 103 and Harvard to alleviate some of the call volume.
And now with police hiring basically at a stand still do ya think it's going to get better? Oh yeah, whos vice-chair of the police and fire commission...drum roll please...good ole Ginger!

Effective immediately, St. Xavier police have jurisdiction to make arrests around streets that lead to their satellite buildings throughout the neighborhood. That's our Police presence in Mt. Greenwood now. I'll bet Mrs. Rugai uses this as if the problem is actually solved.

Are the bathrooms - flushing ones?

The website looks great, any pics - I'm thinking I need to go, we always go to MI to camp - IN would mix things up.

Yes, the comfort stations are modern with flushing toilets. It's a nature center too, with tons of birds I have never seen. There are miles of trails for bikes and walking. The cabins are huge and secluded (we drove by them). The sites are VERY large by most campsite standards. They only offer electric on the sites, but have a water station for filling up the water bladder in campers. They also have a nice little store.

Regarding Police presence in 60655 I also have observed and witness that the Merionnette Park cops are patrolling and making some police presence through 115th and Homan to Central Park. NO this is not Merionette Park this is still Chicago. Again, I am sure this is Rugai's bright idea to keep us quiet over here on the Bourbon Street side cause we all know she is a huge fan of Bourbon Street and loves the owners!

From Trib.
The Police Committee took no action on the proposal by Ald. Sandi Jackson (7th) that would have mandated the temporary re-deployment of officers to her far South Side ward and other high-crime areas.

At least One alderman has the sense to try and get police service for their ward. Rugai wont lift a finger to help 60655. No police service and higher taxes great work ginger. I never thought a Jackson would be a better represenitive then our alderman but she is trying to help her ward Ginger is probably serving drinks to the mayor up in Michigan away from all the crime with police bodyguards.

I say screw her, she only looks out for herself. Time to look out for ourselves. Does anyone know if the school hires part time officers?

I think this would be a great opportunity for the PO's who live in Mt Greenwood to work a side job that they can do some good with instead of guarding construction equipement in the ghetto.

Spend time on the campus and then time in the neigborhood checking things our between visits at other school buidlings.

HUH!?! The PO's in Mt. Greenwood doing side jobs here in Mt. Greenwood? That is that last thing I want my husband to be doing is shagging people down in his home town and putting my children, home and him in jeopardy. And doing this for free? If he is home I want him home being a dad and a husband or visiting with family. Are you kidding me. It would be different if the police presence from 22 were actully here being able to roam their beat and handle calls. Go to Rugai and her peeps to get them off their damn butt and make the changes instead of whooping it up at her Cottage and with her Bourbon Street clan.

Let me get this straight. You would rather have your husband working a side job in a ghetto somewhere protecting other people equipement or property instead of in your own neighborhood?

No one ever said they would be doing this for FREE!!! Do you think the current Saftey Department at St Xaviers works for FREE?

The whole point is that they are numerous PO's who live in the area who work side jobs all over the city and suburbs. Protecting other peoples lives and propert. Why not, i there is and opportunity, do this in your own neighborhood?

If you and your husband are so lucky in that he does not have to work a side job then good for you. There are tons of us here who NEED to work a side job. I for one would rather work one here knowing that not only am I making extra money but it is for my own neighborhood as well.

Are you so afraid of your husband working in the area that if he gets a chance to work out of 022 you will tell him not to do that too?

Wake up, the are is going to shit and no one, not the mayor, alderman, commander of 022 give a shit about it. The only people that give a shit about are the residences except for it seems like you are not one of them.

Stop blaming it on others at start taking care of ourselves cause it has been proven that others do not care about us

My husband works numerous amounts of side jobs. Sorry, jackass, we are not that fortunate. I don't know mnay in this community that are fortunate where a city worker (P.O., fireman, wastemanagement, dotn' work side jobs)That is not what I was trying say....there is no offerings for side jobs here! He has searched many times for side jobs in the community and nobody has the money to pay. NO, he doesn't work side jobs in the ghetto sitting on construction. 111th is becoming cemetary...very sad looking. SO becaureful who you are attaking and don't read into things so deeply. I care about this community and try do lots within expectation. NO, I don't want SXU to be patrolling my streets unless I know, too, that they have had proper police training and I don't want to pay taxes for them when clearly 22 should have the PO's where they are designated to be. Here in the area. I get just as pissed as everyone else does. Fine...let's rally in the park and get the media involved and put Rugai, the commander of 22, Daley and every other dead beat superior to shame. It's crap. It's so crappy that I would move out back in the suburbs where I was raised the first chance we can get! Saddly to say...I would. Please don't tell to do that now cause we all (city workers) know that it can't happen but, in the mean time. I will support what I have to!

I think a rally sounds like a great idea!! I would be willing to come and protest our lack of city services. What does everyone think? Is it doable, are people interested, would it make a difference?? I think it would be better than sitting here bitching all of the time, of which I am guilty too! Lets fight for our neighorhood!
