Negative comments about businesses

The time has come to no longer allow ANY negative posts about any businesses! My ass is in a sling as to the negative comments, and therefore, will no longer be allowed. You might not like the business or their practices, but there will be no place for those comments here. There may be freedom of speech in America, but not on blogs. State all the postive comments you want, but the negative cannot be allowed. There is actually a long story behind this post, but needless to say, if I continue to allow these posts, the blog will be shut down.

*Rainbow cone is NOT closing. Thanks to the person who stated the untrue facts... Please stop by and have a cone.

*As to Ben & Jerry, if you disagree with their practices, don't patronize the business. That's your choice.

*All About Me, again, can you be sure of your facts? This woman has contributed a lot to charities and is running a business in Mt. Greenwood, isn't that what we all wanted? She is a good woman and the negative talk is uncalled for.

So, in closing, negative business comments will not be posted. I hope that is clear enough so that I am not getting comments about why your comment was not posted.

Look for changes in commenting - COMING SOON!

Thanks!

no problem, negatives are bad, but if you only allow positive comments that is only giving half the information, but it's your blog, so if you want to be the censor and dictator that is your right.
your blog is a great source for information, I can see you deleting posts because of racism, foul language, personal attacks, but opinions? come on how are one's opinions your fault, and who is going to shut you down?

You would think Freedom of Speech and all that, but there are tons of rules to that Freedom. Come on, its 2009 and the world is PC...you can't hurt anyones feelings, or say the wrong thing...or else you are sued. I think I will ask to be addressed as a Irish-American Caucasian hetrosexual of female gender. Instead of a straight white woman.

In & Around-

I understand your frustration, however, if someone on this blog has a bad dining experience, I think they should be able to share in that experience.
Also, if you are sick of the political correctness, I found a site I think you will enjoy. pigazette.com - pi stands for politically incorrect. It is funny and informative. Thanks.

JOB, I agree, I too have had horrible experiences with businesses, however, I guess if it commented on, it crosses the line into liable and slander. Say all the great things, but leave out the negative...

I think this is a great idea. and I made the comment about All about Me.

It is NOT a lie and I do not make things up.

Selling purses that read " ed Hardy" COach or prada is llegal. It is a copy right issue. you can go right to any of the "legit" sites to see how you can report people that sell illegal items. So yes if you patronize her business although she may be a nice person she is selling illegal items. That in my thoughts is wrong.

My husband who is a police officer learned in his terrorism training last year that the people that supply these "fake or knock off items" videos /purses etc.. take the money they make from these resales to support terrorism. Again not a lie. SO why all about me may not be directly supporting it - she still is selling illegal handbags because she did not design the coach bag herself. She is known to tell her customers I can put any "bag tag" on any bag you buy. Go into her store and see. This is not a lie nor did I make this up.

I am not saying she is bad by any means just stating the facts period. Please don't jump don't anyones throat just cause some people on here are rude. I am stating 100% facts.

I did a little research on the whole purse thing. Yes, purses that say "Coach" or "Prada" and are not real and are sold that way are illegal. However, many stores sell what are called designer inspired or knock offs. There are usually tattle tell signs, such as the lettering faces a different direction, etc. There is nothing illegal about that. People do it with jewelry, "Tiffany" inspired, and coats, sunglasses, and yes, even shoes (visit Payless Shoes). You can buy "Tiffany" inspired jewelry at Kohl's, Macy's and even Lia Sophia. I didn't mean to jump down your throat, but your original post called it supporting terrorism. She does not tell anyone they are "real." Everyone knows that they are knock offs and if someone thinks that they are getting a "real" one for $40, they need to get their heads examined. As you conceded, I doubt she is taking the money and sending it to Osama Bin Laden. She's making a living giving the ladies what they love, purses and jewelry.

I once bought a really good knock off "Coach" purse and put a real "Coach" tag on it...I got a lot of compliments on it, did I tell anyone it was a fake, nope.

That's my take on it.

I believe the 7-11 on Kedzie & 115th is arab owned. If so, does anyone who shops there support terrorism? I believe drug money is the biggest funding for terrorism. Especially heroin.

I believe my statement would be considered a rhetorical question, aimed to be a humorous response to an earlier post regarding counterfeit goods, and there relation to terrorism. I don't believe there was a need to research this "intelligently" since it was not a statement of facts. Are you the same kid that wrote book reports after reading only the last chapter of the book? Try to keep up with all the posts, before you make accusations regarding my intelligence....GO SOX

FYI - Article found on line. I just googled "blog lawsuits" Even if you win, you still have to hire a lawyer. It just isn't worth it.
Be positive!

Lawsuits Filed Against Bloggers Increasing

Lawsuits filed against bloggers are increasing according to a USA Today news story.
Legal analysts say the lawsuits are challenging a mind-set that has long surrounded blogging: that most bloggers essentially are "judgment-proof" because they - unlike traditional media such as newspapers, magazines and television outlets - often are ordinary citizens who don't have a lot of money. Recent lawsuits by Banks and others who say they have had their reputations harmed or their privacy violated have been aimed not just at cash awards but also at silencing their critics.

"Bloggers didn't think they could be subject to libel," says Eric Robinson, a Media Law Resource Center attorney. "You take what is on your mind, type it and post it."
Robert Cox, founder and president of the Media Bloggers Association, told USA Today that someday a blogger will be successfully sued and lose his or her home.
Robert Cox, founder and president of the Media Bloggers Association, which has 1,000 members, says the recent wave of lawsuits means that bloggers should bone up on libel law. "It hasn't happened yet, but soon, there will be a blogger who is successfully sued and who loses his home," he says. "That will be the shot heard round the blogosphere."
That is an alarming thought. It goes without saying that bloggers should be careful and avoid blogging things they know are not true about businesses and people. The EFF has a good FAQ about libel here. Cox does encourage bloggers to fight back and protect the right to free speech in lawsuits that are "filed merely to silence critics."

50 lawsuits have been filed over postings on blogs and web message boards over the past two years according to the USA Today article. The article didn't differentiate between blog posts and blog comments but there have been lawsuits over both. It also didn't say how many of the 50 lawsuits were filed specifically against blgos and not message boards. The bright side of the story for bloggers is that fifty lawsuits is still very, very small compared to the 50+ million blogs Technorati is tracking.

Yes I read the last chapter of the book and all the other chapters also ...got "A's" on those book reports also ... I was not really commenting on your personal intelligence, but since that is how you took it well, what can I say. However your implying that the "7-11" is Arab owned and by shopping there "funds terrorism" shows that you do lack certain knowledge about what "funds terrorism" I am a regular reader of this blog and even if you mean it as a humorous response it does have a little bit of ethnic overtone to it. I can tell you however that there are several buisnesses in the area that may possibly fall into that category. But nothing has been proven there fore I cannot disclose them publicly on this blog.

You're right.. I don't know what exactly funds terrorism. I'm not a terrorist. I'm guessing you're not either, therefore you probably don't know where those funds come from, "exactly". So in the interest of not getting in a pissing match on this woman's blog, I will consider this issue closed, with my apologies for any misunderstandings.....GO SOX!!!!

Of all the times me and my daughters have shopped at All About Me I have never heard bag tag or anything like that. My kids see the purse and say oh that looks like a ed hardy or a chanel but doesnt say it. Have you actually been in there? Do you see everything in there? There are some really nice bags that dont say or look like anything. My daughters and have the girls at their school love the place. So we will keep shopping there.
