New settings to comment

Anyone can read the blog (so all you lurkers are safe). However, in order to post any comments, you must become a member. If you look to the left of the blog site, you will see followers. You can become a member there. (you need to start a google account). Here is a link to open your google account. It’s easy, and it’s free.

I did this to alleviate all the anonymous posters who sign on and post nothing but crap and lies. You don't have to sign in with your true given name, but I will be able to see your information and block you permanently from commenting if it comes to that, especially those who like to email in the middle of night with the horrible, mean and vicious comments. You people kiss your mothers with that mouth?

This is the last ditch effort to make this blog work like it should. I may lose readership, but so be it. This is what it has come to in order to restore some king of order on this blog. Call it censorship or a dictatorship, but like I have said a million times before, if you don't like it, don't read it.

I think that sounds like a wonderful idea! I always take it with a grain of salt when I see anonymous. I'm curious to see what will happen. I think this may become a bit more pleasant for you. You must be a saint to read through the negative posts and still want to continue.

Time will tell right? Thanks for your support and comments.

Great idea. This will eliminate the likes of the COWARD that sends fictitious comments under other peoples names.

Great job in and around. This should hopefully cut down on the foolishness and give readers great info that is much needed in the community. I truly enjoy reading this blog and hope it continues. Thank you!

I truly believe all the viciousness is coming from just one or two miserable trolls but that's all it takes to ruin a good thing and someone else's hard work. Thanks for all your hard work.

Inandaround good luck with the positive posting idea. Your comment count will definitely be down. I only allow positive comments on my site,(www.beverlymorganpark.net) and I rarely get comments. I wish more people would post positive comments on my site. I believe that if you have an issue with a retailer or restaurant that you should address it with the owner or manager not walk out and then complain without giving them an opportunity to correct. Try to help them improve their business. WE WANT INDEPENDENT BUSINESS OWNERS TO SURVIVE, THRIVE! Not contribute to their demise with negative comments. They are proud to offer their service or product and are trying to make a living. We should all try to shop, dine, socialize local first! Be positive! When I think of places to go or eat out I think of Beverly, Morgan Park, Mt. Greenwood, Oak Lawn, EP etc.. anywhere I can drive in 20 min. or less in general. There are TONS of places to go!

Gee no more race-baiting? Subject derailment? Personal agendas? This blog might actually stay on topic!

I think it's hilarious that the crazy anonymous-mean posters aren't taking the time to put their name with the post! Criticism is okay as long as it's constructive - at least that is what I think. I'm guessing those people have nothing nice to say about anything.

That's what I was hoping to see. Nice job inandaround! I love this blog.

I don't think all anonymous posters should be grouped as crazy. A CPD officer Coming on and anonymously giving info was a good thing for us. People may have opinions that differ from yours and would prefer to me anonymous for fear of being labeled, much like you have done RK.

I don't really need their names, they can call themselves Fred Flinestone if they want, however, they have to be registered so that I can block them if they ARE one of the crazies.

Yep - I'm labeling the people that say rainbow cone is closing, JJ fish is opening up, and so much more as crazy-mean posters. Not all of them - sorry I didn't clarify myself.

Couldn't it just be they got bad information? Could it be they received info that you haven't? I'm sure we are all guilty of hearing a story and passing it on only to find out later it wasn't true. HMMMM Isn't that how all of these internet urban myths come to be?
I just think its wrong to label people as crazy because they post wrong info
