Best Sit Down Restaurant

Wonderburger is the winner with 18% of the vote, followed by Franconello with 16%.

Fast food is next. I listed Burrito station simply because people wanted it listed. I did not list corporate franchises because this is the best of 60655 (or close to it). You can get McDonald's anywhere.

Burrito Station has been cited for several things in the past month for mouse droppings and spoiled meat. A Chicago Police Officer also found something suspecting in his burrito. Supposedly it was from someone's bodily function and this worker did not like the officer for a previous DUI. I bet u will not see another police officer eating there again. GROSS!

Is that true about Burrito Station. Come on, if that were true it would be shut down. How gross.

POO POO on Burrito Station
I want to vomit every time I see people getting food there.

Yes, a customer did find something in his burrito, consistent with sewage!!!

He did make out a police report documenting just that....

He did have it examined by an independent lab...

Yes, it was waste!!!!!

POO POO Burrito Station!

A restaurant has been cited after city health inspectors found mouse droppings and spoiled meat in the Southwest Side establishment.

Health Department spokesman Tim Hadac said inspectors went to The Burrito Station at 2750 W. 111th St. on Tuesday and found about two pounds of cooked steak that had a foul odor and was being stored at unsafe temperatures.

The staff was instructed to discard the meat, which they did. A $500 citation was issued for the food stored at an unsafe temperature, Hadac said.

Mouse droppings were also found in an area were food was not being stored and a back door had a gap that could potentially allow access by vermin, which resulted in two citations carrying $250 fines each, Hadac said.

A uniformed Morgan Park District police officer claimed he picked up a food order at the restaurant about 12:15 p.m. Monday, police said. He went back to the police station and began to eat.

When he took a bite of a burrito, he tasted what seemed to be sewage in his food and spit it out, after which the health department was contacted, police said.

Hadac could not confirm the officer's account and had no information about reports of sewage in food, but said inspectors will return to the restaurant by Dec. 9 to follow up on the citations.

BURRITO STATION SHOULDNT EVEN BE ON THE LIST

If the allegations about Burritto Station are true, its a whole new demension. I think the Board of Health would have shut it down by now.

Marcos is WAY better then Pop's . try it out!

The problem with Taco Joe is that big in your face nasty sign that says "REFILLS ARE $1.00". What a turn off. You dont see that kind of sign in BurgerKing or McDonalds, never.

If you feel a need to control the refills then keep it behind the counter.

The food is good but the sign is a max turn off.

Stop saying if the allegations about burrito station are true----they are!!!

F@#*ing sick!!!

They are not shut down because the cooks were not dumping in the food for the health inspector. The health inspector can only site them for what they find/observe.

The independent lab which tested the tainted burrito can probably only specify that waste was in the food which was tested. They probably cannot say that the waste belonged to the cook. I would guess that they cant rule out that the burrito was made with lettuce which had a big steamy pile attached to it from the lettuce field.... but c'mon, the health department and police department may be bound to 100% certainty, but your intelligence/Decisions shouldn't be...If you still feel this way after being provided factual information, then please, go to burrito station, order some food, and try not to think of the Dirty Sanchez your biting into!!! AUGH!

Everyone needs to come and eat at Sweet Escapes, the new business that opened at 10402 S. Kedzie. Nothing fried, everything made fresh. Best cupcakes around.

pops is definately going downhill ever since the new owners took over. Now it is like all the other pops that are not as good. they cook everything(hamburgers, chicken) ahead of time instead of made to order like before. Cheese fries are still excellent though! Wish they would of kept unsweetened ice tea too.
Burrito Station to gross for me I can't go back and it was my fave!!!!

Just wanted to agree with the folks that said Pop's is going downhill. Our last beef sandwiches were tasteless, no zip to them at all. Not like they used to be. We've been in 60655 for a loooooong time and will not be going back to Pop's.
