New poll

New poll listed. Only one vote allowed. Let's let Ginger know what is most important to us, the people who actually live in 60655. Are we close to election year?

Why do I not have an option to vote for all because we need all of these things, but hey, it's been ten years for a new Walgreens.

How about a post about the scam that is called the Mt Greenwood Develpoment Corporation?

This is the entity that owns all these vacant lots and just sits in them. How many of the buildings that they bought and tore down were actually vacant. I believe all of them except for a couple had viable businesses in them.

WOW that's a tough decision!

Giner doesn't care at all about Mt. Greenwood . One of my biggest complaints was the new equipment for the park . The parents in Mt. Grrenwood had to raise money to get it done. That is unbelievable.
Any other park in the city gets whatever they want , its because we are in a white neighborhood

How about the fact Ginger is allowing St. Xavier University to invade our residential area. The latest is the church and property the University purchased on 104th and Spaulding and is turning into an Art School with classrooms and a studio. This residential street wasn't constructed to handle a "campus building". We sent a letter to Ginger against this project...but, hey, gee, we never received a response.

do St. Xavier pay taxes ????? i do

A few beat cars that stay in our neighborhood for adequate Police protection and snow removal on our side streets and alleys would be more than we have now.

St Xaviers is improving otherwise soon to be foreclosed plots. They are not the enemy here. Its still a free market and money is still green, till Obama makes us socialized this is the way it is.

Didn't Ginger once have an office in Mt. Greenwood?

#1. Walgreen's prices are outrageous. Why even shop there? The prices at Walmart at 131st and Cicero are much more reasonable.

#2. If you do have to shop at Walgreen's, try the store at 123 and Pulaski: Easy to get in and out, plenty of free parking, lower sales tax.

I don't think Mt. Greenwood development assholesheation owns any of these properties. I heard last winter that the investor that was to re-develop 111th & Kedzie sold several pieces property to another developer. I assume the reasoning for this was the snails pace the association & Rugai were moving forward with the project. If what I heard was true, it's going to take that much longer with two investors involved. Good luck.

Perfect Pitch 108th & Kedzie. Great guys.

It is obvious the 19th ward cares less about Mount Greenwood than Beverly. I find that a bit humorous with all the folks in Mount Greenwood that knock on doors for the organization.

Any self respecting working person should never, ever, step foot into a Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is corrupting the American work force.

For the person looking for a good mechanic recommendation----

Pro Auto on 111th, West of Cicero---located just west of BG FELLOWS/The Burrito Place, and behind the car wash.
Two brothers own and operate the business.
It's listed in the suburban directory, has been around for awhile.

I've been bring my vehicle there for years---very honest and will not rip you off.

It is very evident that Mt. Greenwood gets nothing done because we don't take enough pride in what we have. Comments in these posts are unbelievable. When was the last time you did anything for your neighborhood besides bitch?!?!?

Mt. Greenwood could be a much greater place to live if we all came together to get things done. We can not expect to have 1 person i.e. Ginger Rugai to do everything. We need to come up with the ideas, we need to go to her with an action plan and FOLLOW through with it. Realizing we do not live in a perfect world and that things take longer than we anticipate we need to realize that if we believe in it and we fight for it it will happen.

Would you want to deal with people who left blogs like these?!!?

I have been around this neighborhood long enough to know that the best thing we do is complain about what isn't done.

When was the last time you shopped at Big N Little, Barrens, Posh Pet, Irish Imports?? What would you like in the stores? Where would you shop?

Why don't you call Blue Ribbon Construction Company and give him some ideas as to the stores you want to see across from our 1.5M park that you will shop at. I am sure he would love suggestions so he can go to retailers saying "My neighborhood wants to shop with you."

AS FAR AS COACHING THERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD COACHS WHO VOLUNTEER THEIR FREE TIME TO HELPING OTHERS. HOWEVER WHEN CHILDREN COME TO SCHOOL WITH SCARS AND BLACK EYES, ITS PROBABLY A GOOD SIGN THAT THIS COMMUNITY SHOULD WONDER WHO IS COACHING THEIR CHILDREN AND WHAT VALUES THEY ARE INSTILLING IN CHILDREN.

the people of this area dont understand ginger and king richey dont care about our neighborhood because they know we will keep voting them.

Ginger also approved the erecting of a cell phone tower @ 10300 s. lawndale. Residents were mailed a letter, informing them that there is no recourse, the letter was just to inform residents of the actions taken. However, if you read the letter, it states that their will be modificatons to an existing tower. NO TOWER EXISTS. Why weren't the residents of the block informed of these proceedings. And what kind of deal did our wonderful aldercreature make with sprint for this sell out. There is no tower there Alderwoman, I know it's not Beverly, but have someone drive you past the location and check it out. And in five or so years drop by some of the resident's homes and offer your sympathy for exposing their children to the risks of brain cancer for your cell phone tower deal. I hear that companies pay about 100K / year just to rent the property where they place the tower. Thank You 19th ward office.

DEAR BLOG OWNER, WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP THIS POLITICAL BITCHING. THERE IS SO MUCH GOOD IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. I DONT CARE TO HEAR SOME OF THESE MOANERS WITH THEIR SIMPLISTIC VIEWS.

Anonymous said...

PLEASE.....Ginger can't do everthing?????She puts the stranglehold on any business coming here. The residents have said time and time again they want more restaurants but what restaurant would come here without having a liquor license. Ginger won't give 'em out. At this point, I'd settle for a Steak n Shake. We go way out of town to eat now. Yes, Richie's is good but you can only go there so many times and the parking there or anywhere in Mount Greenwood stinks.
Ginger appoints the person running the Local Redevelopement's paid position and the rest are voted in by ?????? the current clout board. So yes, she does control what goes on. The members of that board have to sign a confidentiality letter. This is why we don't hear what's going on ever. The meetings are closed to the public. Ginger does not even hold them accountable. They could just be in there playing Monopoly for all we know.
Most people here are city workers. When everyone hits retirement age, they are out of here. The City and County taxes will drive out everyone. What will Mt Greenwood look like then? She does not care, she'll be retired and out of here as well.
Ginger and other local politicians only give support to the private schools as they are alum and are on the boards there. Try and get help for publics schools......hahaha...not happening. St Xavier will get what ever it wants. Might be a good thing considering nothing else is getting done in Mount Greenwood.

So yes, Ginger does control it all and no we can't change it. Maybe when Daley goes down like Blago we will see some change.

I agree totally!

The Sinclair brothers at 104th and Kedzie. Honest to the core.

i heard a rumor that sxu bought some of the buildings along pulaski on the oak lawn side. Can anyone confirm?

Anonymous said...

Saint Xavier is most likely buying up properties in Oak lawn because they can't get anywhere with Rugai. The rumor was that if they could not get approval to put their new bookstore on the Chicago side of 104th & Pulaski. They would try to obtain the property directly across the street on Oak lawns side. That is the TCF bank property. They want to build a facility that will house the campus book store and also have dorm rooms.
