Speaking of drinking....
Does anyone remember a tavern on 111th st., between the then Irish Temple and the present Corrigan's from way back in the day? It is not Fat City which was across the street and next to the firehouse.
City workers live here with their families , of course there would be civil rights violating road blocks and traffic units. We need to be taxed and we are not the squeeky wheel. The city ticket writers walk up and down my Beverly block daily, ticketing anything. Pulling out rulers to see if you are too far from the curb. Funny I never see em in the ghetto.

I applaud the DUI posts here. I guess you never appreciate these things until you've lost a loved one due to DUI.
There used to be a bar across the street called Molly something.... Or are your referring to the original name of Corrigan's? Waltzing Matilda's.
Why doesn't the Traffic Section set this up in 003, 006, or 007? These guys are like a bunch of suburban police wannabe's. How embarrassing and pathetic!

Dunno about you but I don't really care about the drunk drivers in the ghettos. Have at it. I'm glad they're hunting for and hammering them out here where my family is. One less drunk to possibly plow into my house or car where my kids are. Go get 'em!! I don't really understand the warning though. If you're inclined to be driving drunk around here, maybe you should be caught!
Before Corrigans was Waltzing Matilda's it was Lindy's Chili for a short time and before that it was The peppermill !
And before it was the "Peppermill" it was the "Crazy horse".
Don't drink and drive and you wont have to worry about getting a DUI. There are too many bars in the neighborhood that are walking distance, so you shouldnt need to drive after having too many.
I do agree with the comments about no DUI stops in the ghetto. They dont exist. I'm not knocking the cops, you guys have enough to deal with in the ghetto without DUI stops. Its your bosses that are to blame.

Not condoning drinking and driving, but they do it in the areas where the people they catch have the money to pay the fines. It is nothing but a money maker for the city and state. In the ghetto, most offenders just don't bother to go to court, and are already driving on suspended drivers licenses or don't even have one, and will continue to drive anyway.
It was to divert attention from the alderwoman who got a dui. nothing like letting someone else suffer for your sins.
What is it with some of these arrogant alderman. Ms.Dixon for example. Trying to drive down a street that was blocked by Chicago Police during a fatal fire. Drunk on top of it. "I'll be vindicated" this idiot is saying to the press after she had told the arresting police officer that she was at an inauguration party and was drinking wine. Anybody remember Dorthy Tillman whipping out her pistol at a city council meeting about 15 years ago. She got all pissed off because someone dared to disagree with her.
I don't believe Tillman was ever charged for that. I'll bet she didn't even have to show anyone her F.O.Y. card. They just let her and her gigantic hat walk right out of there. I wonder if there will be any action taken against this dummy Dixon. She will most likely sue the cop that detained her stupid ass. That's Chicago politics for ya'. I don't know how you cops can work in this city under this goof Daley.
the cpd website lists where the traffic unit goes. every fri and sat night there is a road side safety check and a saturation detail. the saturation guys flood a district and look for traffic/dui enforcement. The safety checks are the road blocks. They are all over the city and not just targeting here.
Speaking of DUI's one of Kevin Joyce's relatives side wiped one parked car and broadsided another on Sat. 1/24 right after Bourbon St. closed. I watched as he was seated comfortably in the FRONT seat of the squad car. One of the victims was told there were no arrests in the incident and refused to divulge any more information.
