The parade is two weeks from tomorrow. Are you ready? If you go to the parade, where do you watch it from? East or West Side of Western? 103, 1o5, 111th, etc????
Its something the way everyone acts that day. My kids have to witness men and women pissing on the street. I live west of Western and wish that the police would be more proactive.

----------------- Its something how people bought houses west of Western right the parade route and thought that the parade would not be a negative effect to them. Why did you buy there in the first place? This parade is not new. The Irsih parade has huge leash on it compared to the other "ethnic" fest the city allows. The police do a fine job, stop bitching and do something about it, move.
People pissing and etc are not what the parade is about. It is a shame that's what is associated with. I walked with the first group through Kennedy park, yes my zip code was 60643 at that time. It is a family event, many families participate. We will watch on the East side, with out alcohol, and wait our turn at the port a potty, and yes laugh at the goofballs.
lets not be hippocrites. when i was 17 years old i was one of the idiot teenagers out there being drunk and stupid. 20 years later its still the same but more people. lets have half of the chicago police force at the parade so the public peeing can stop. do what i do. go to a friend's house have fun and visit the parade for a half hour and thats it. we need more porta pottees and the public peeing will be less
I'd love it down Longwood it would be nicer! Less cry babies for sure. The guy who said he was one of the 17 year olds drunk and peeing in the past, amen to that brother or sister! I was too. Many young peopel bought homes in Beverly or greenwood because the Irish parade and the memories that they have as well as the crumble of many other southside neighborhoods. I agree. if you dont like it, if it bothers your life so much that one day, then MOVE! What else can you do. Arrest every drinker every pisser? Where do you intend to keep these arrestees? Your basement? Where are the police gonna come from? We are short 3500 police now the mayor refuses to hire. calm down moaners, its one day1 The city shuts down all bars and kills tax paying business to lessen the burden on you poor pee ridden grass.
My opinion is: it's one day. Don't like it, don't go. Don't like the pissers?? Have your hose ready to "water" your garden. Otherwise, stop complaining, have a beer, some corned beef, do little jig, and relax.
Its a family parade east of western. its a massive drunk fest west of western, all the way to california. there are no police west of artesian.
The police should stop the suburbanites who park in mt greenwood while they are walking over the hill at 111th st and take their booze. That would help. Right now there is no fear of arrest. One more item, most of these hooligans are suburban pollocks.
It's the Irish version of the Bud Billiken parade ... Thank God I don't live by the parade route ... I hope pours rain and is 35 degrees out ... I remember last year there was a huge fight at 111th and Troy after the parade ...just a bunch of underage drunks .... and you know what ??? when I was younger I did have fun at the parade ... had a few beers ... and lots of corned beef ... But I was taught to be respectful of other peoples property and I was ... cannot say the same for today's parade goer's
the Southside Irish parade will be picketed by off- duty officers, due to the crooked City and County DemocRAT Politicians in the Parade, and the lack of fair employment [timely raise] for City Police by the crroked Mayor. See U all Soon!

180 Kids lost ... I wish it was that many !!! I just felt like stirring that pot of potato soup thats all !!! Word is there may be DUI check points in the hood that day ... I think it would be a good idea ... don't you
Word is there may be DUI check points in the hood that day ... I think it would be a good idea ... don't you SURE, BUT MOST OF THE UNDERAGE KIDS WHO PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT ARE WALKING THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD, NOT DRIVING...
I don't mind the parade, however, I also don't go anymore either now that the kids are older. I have had issues, but it is only one day. Yes, I have had people peeing on the side of my house. I've also had someone climb up on my railings to try and steal the Irish flag, get caught and tell me that he didn't know it was mine. The best is when I watched a bunch of kids in their early 20's get out of their car, fill up their cooler, throw the empty case cardboard and a few empty cans in my neighbor's yard. I promptly went out to their car (yes, they were suburban) I lined the cans and the cardboard on the hood of their car. When they returned, they did take their garbage with them. I guess they got the point?

Kudos to you
The parade yesterday was the worst one. There were many arrests. At one point they thought the lock up at 22 was full. There were battery in progress calls every 2-3 minutes. I never saw so many ambulances responding to the neighborhood during a parade. The drunk kids are getting to be a real problem. Never so many fights either. Any one know what the big incidents at CVS drugs on 111th st was about?
I hope the parade committee moves the start time to 9:00 am next year. Also, I hope they make all buses not participating in the parade park at Dan Ryans woods on 87th & Western where their passengers can get off the bus and on the bus after the parade.

I've been here 32 years. I was here before the parade.
The point here is that it's harley a family parade to the residents living west of Western ave.
People pissing in the streets without fear of arrest. How can it be said that the police are doing a "fine job" on that day. They are undermanned.

I'll be Video Recording this year, and giving or selling the Video's to the News Media. This should be Great!

There is word that this may be the last year for the parade. It is because of the cost of it.
Good source.
