For those out that don't visit the library too often, I wanted to let you know that you can check out Museum Passes. You check them out for a week and they usually allow 4 general admissions for free. Not all passes are available at all times, but give it a try.
The options are Brookfield Zoo, Science & Industry, Field Museum, Shedd Aquariam, Nobart Nature, and a few others I can't think of right now. In these tough economic times, enjoy a day out for practically no cost.

This One's for Gina - Pub Crawl
The "This One's For Gina!" Pub Crawl will take place on 05 Jun 2009 starting at 6pm.
One group will meet at Sean's Rhino Bar at 103rd and Western, another group will meet at Quigley's - 111th and Pulaski. You determine which group you would like to walk with!
The Requirment: Be 21, wear a t-shirt and be willing to sell raffle tickets,etc!
We will promote Gina's benefit until we all meet up at Cullinan's Stadium Club - 11610 S. Western. Please come and bring a friend, let's have some fun while making this a huge success.

Michael Murphy Benefit and Scholarship Fund
Music is the inspiration of the soul. Michael (Murph) Murphy felt this inspiration throughout his life – a life that was cut short on June 6, 2008 when he was struck down by a hit and run driver. Murph would have been 32 in July.
His passion was music. He was a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. He played a variety of instruments from guitar, mandolin, accordion, harmonica, a bit of the keyboard and was taking violin lessons. His creativity and abilities were varied. He was a member of 4 bands; “Leave” was an original music band that Murph founded and he was devoted to its vision. The members of Leave also performed as a cover band called “Joe V”. The other bands that he regularly performed with were “The Larkin and Moran Brothers” and “A Week Back”. All of them brothers to the end.
Murph taught at the Music School in Oak Lawn and encouraged and inspired people of all ages to learn how to play an instrument and love music.
Now, through his family and friends, Murph can continue to encourage and inspire. The Michael J. Murphy Music Scholarship Fund has been created with the mission to provide music related lessons and instruments to children from families that do not have the financial means to provide this opportunity. Our goal is to carry on Murph’s legacy and make a difference in a life by giving them the gift of music. We ask that you join us by providing whatever support you can to make that a reality.
A fund raiser has been scheduled on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at
115 Bourbon Street

Merrionette Park, IL
3:00 p.m – 8:00 p.m.

Textbooks for Sale????
High school text books are SUPER EXPENSIVE and the school buy back program only gives you pennies on the dollar and then sells them to new students at almost retail price.
So, here is your opportunity to sell what you have from last year.
In your comment, please put the school, grade level of the books, bar code number (SKU), name of the course, level of the course (i.e., Honors, academic, marcellian), price you want (make it reasonable) and contact information.
OR
If your looking for books, enter all of the above information and what you are LOOKING TO PAY. (make is reasonable).

Attempted Child Abduction
Chicago police have issued a community alert after a man in a car attempted to abduct a 17-year-old girl in the Far South Side's Mount Greenwood neighborhood over the weekend.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, the girl was riding her bike in the 3800 block of West 101st Street when a man driving a red car offered her a ride, according to police.
The girl continued peddling until the man cut her off with his car and grabbed her. The girl fought with him until he released her and fled from the area.
The man is described as a white male, about 30 years old, 5-foot-11 and between 180 to 200 pounds, balding, wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans and gym shoes. He was driving a red 4-door, small vehicle.
If anyone has information concerning this incident, they are asked to call Calumet Area detectives, (312)747-8271.
