Walgreen's Revisited

I have had many comments recently about what is going on with Walgreens. Here is a past comment that sounds of truth. Anyone know anything else?

At the Town Hall Meeting on November Alderman Rugai announced that the development at 111th & Kedzie had finally met all requirements for building permits. We should see ground breaking in early spring with a completion date of September 09. I have had the September 09 opening date of Walgreens confirmed with a Walgreens headquarters employee. We did loose Starbucks, but that was because Starbucks decided to shut down so many stores. Dunkin Donuts is working on a propsal for the space.

First off, great site. Secondly, while talking about building, any word on the beverly brewing company? Also not that I want it, but Rugai was proposing a large indoor gym complex at 115th and western and havent heard anything about that either. Lastly, I know that there are a lot of cops on here, me being one, please leave the non safety issue police talk to SCC.

Thank you for your encouragement. 60655 is a big neighborhood and hopefully this blog gives us all a sense of community.

As for Bev Brewing. I will be looking into it. I pass by often and the sign is still there, but it looks like they have back-filled the foundation. As for the location on 115th and Western, I seriously doubt anyone will build there. It's always a topic or platform around election time. Do you really want a community center or gym or ice skating rink there??? I would rather look at the empty lot. If they build there, put in an office building or something that won't attract too many "teenagers" to one location.

115th and Western is just something Ginger makes up storys about at election time. All of her socalled ideas for this location are bad. I was wondering if anyone has tried the new Ice cream shop by 111th and Homan or the re opened coffee shop on 111th fairfield.

To the poster about having too many teenagers in one spot....

Yes, I would like something on 115th and Western for the teenagers.

The one spot we have now is Mount Greenwood Park if the kids live south, Beverly Park if they are north, I'll use 107th street as the divider.

Give them another option, a viable option too, not some dump, and they will go there. It is better for all of us, and it is better to keep them in one place. Much easier to keep an eye on, control, and if done right you can keep the bad element out that just wants to start fights and ruin things.

I don't believe anything that comes out of Rugai's mouth. Seeing is believing. Let' s get going on all these "projects" she has in mind. And let's keep the beat cars on their ACTUAL beats!

We went to the new Ice cream shop at 111/Homan. Edys Ice Cream and thumbs up from my wife and kids. Neighborhood guy owns it, also has a small candy counter
