New Poll

Well 60655 has spoken and the major concern is police presence - it received 51% of the vote followed by the Walgreens' project.

From what I hear, Walgreens will be rebuilt, but in the same location as it is now. There has been some kind of fight regarding sewers having to be rebuilt. I don't know if we are getting the pretty little strip mall with the park (like in the pictures). Starbucks is a distant memory. Fingers crossed for Dunkin Donuts. Saw on another blog in the area that Beverly is getting a Fat Burger (franchise)...supposedly partially owned by Kanye West. How come it takes years to get anything built or opened over here, but in a snap of the fingers there is something opening in Beverly. (I am currently shaking my head as I type this). I vote for a potbelly or chipotle.

Corner of 111th and Kedzie looks like crap. The building on 111th and Pulaski either needs to be cleaned up and repainted or torn down...looks like crap.

Anyway, enough of my opinions, new poll is "what are you going to do with your tax return" (if you get one).

Hopefully, the people complaining about the lack of police presence and community development arent the sheep standing in line for vote for Rugai every election. Get it through your heads people....she can no longer get you or your kid a job. With the federal monitor in place, the alderman handing out jobs is done. WAKE UP. She doesnt give a crap about Mt. Greenwood and that will never change. She is a Daley puppet, always has been and always will be.

If you want things to stay the same. If you love this economic mess that Daley and his corruption/mismanagement has put the city in then by all means keep taking that palm card from the door knockers and vote like a brainless sheep for who the 19th ward tells you to.

Where is this Fatburger being built? I live in the 60655 part of Beverly by Western Ave. I realize waiting for 111th and Kedzie to be rebuilt is frustrating, but we've been waiting for 106th-107th and Western to be rebuilt for quite a long time. It's an eyesore to see almost a full block on Western Ave empty. I'm thinking this Fatburger is going to be built somewhere on 95th St, which is north Beverly, coincidentally enough, is where our Alderman is from.
So, not all of Beverly gets their wish with the snap of the fingers.

True enough...I am assuming it will be at or near 95th Street. The vacant lot you speak of I assume is where that fateful fire was? Across from Cork and Kerry. I agree, they really need to build something there as it definitely an eyesore.

I looked it up...August 2008 article...

"Hip-hop artist Kanye West's KW Foods LLC, which has rights to develop 10 Fatburgers in the Chicago area, plans to open another one in January at 95th and Western Avenue in the Beverly neighborhood..."

One I know is going to open in Orland pretty soon.

I believe that one of Rugias other empty promisess was to build a park or a memorial to the Firefighters who paid the ultimate price in fighting the fire at 106th street. This is the lot that is across from Cork and Kerry.

Thank you Ginger!

I'm all for building a memorial for the firefighters, but I don't like the idea of a park on busy Western Ave.
The space needs a nice sit down restaurant, but it won't happen because its in a dry precinct. I'm talking a nice resaurant like Koda or Franconello's, not some piece of crap like TGIF.

Fatburger? I might as well go out to the one in Orland, just like everything else I want to eat. Did anyone know there is a Chile's down there on 95th and Western? Probably not, cause who would want to go and eat at the plaza? They build it and they come. Know what I mean?

I would like to see "Maple tree inn" back over there. I've never had a problem at the Old Western avenue place. But it's a bit funky over there. It's almost like you've found an extreme shortcut to Tijuana. Only there's no Donkey shows. Actually, I think the people that live in Tijuana speak better English.

I don't want anything in 60655 that has Kanye West trademark!

I agree, I dont think phony rapper like Kanye West has any place in a hard working zip code of 60655.

put a dunkin donuts at 111 pulaski in the vacant corner. we would have a lot more police driving by the park, on 111th, and on pulaski. the shit birds getting on/off the bus would see a cop first thing at the bus stop. even merionette park/ oak lawn guys would patronize.

Kanye West has been quoted that he is embarrassed to admit he went to school around here -he went to PIE/Polaris in Oak Lawn. I want nothing to do with him.
Fatburger is over priced -costs $17.00 for two burgers, ONE fry and ONE drink. and not that good.

and I agree Rugai needs to be OUT. she only cares about Beverly -could care less about Mt. Greenwood. Everytime I have called her office her little assistant who lives on my block gives super huge excuses on why things cant be done. OUST RUGAI!!!!

Most ALL of 111 St. Looks like CRAP. Why don't we have those new, Nice Street Lights on 111 St? I've seen em out in Hegewisch, by the Trailer Courts that they're going to tear down this year. Mt. Greenwood is WAAAAAY overdue for a makeover. All we do out here is pay taxes for everyone elses shit, and are always the last to get anything ..

I've had Fatburgers several times and they are nothing more than highly over-rated and over-priced burgers. Lots of hype, but after one or two, you;ll not be thrilled at all. I'll take Top Notch any day.

agreed on the street lights. at 47th and wallace, going south along the wall of the railroad property, the new lights have been installed for years. it is a nb one way street with very little traffic.
