Salvation Army Building for Sale!

The Salvation Army building on 114th & Central Park will be up for sale very soon possibly within the next 4 months. This information needs to reach every single household in Mt. Greenwood. What would they like to see done with this building? I URGE every resident to contact the ward office insisting that everyone in Mt. Greenwood know what will happen with this building BEFORE it is sold. If everyone calls, the alderman's office will need to hold a town hall meeting so we can have a better understanding before it is sold.

I say some spend some city dollars on it and make it a community center.

I think a community center would be great. Keep the kids away from the park where there is absolutely no good reason for them to be there. They are too old for the swings! Parents that allow their kids to hang out there are clueless as to what goes on. My son tries to get open gym time there and it's never available. The teenagers need somewhere else to go other than the park.

I vote No Community Center and NO to a church. The people that attend the army now are NOT considerate of the neighbors. The kids that have parties there are Loud, trample the neighbors lawn, steal things from the neighbors yards. and let me add the people park in front of the neighbors driveway and have no concern. Make it houses.... bring UP our value instead of down. You shouldnt speak unless you live ON The block. and have to live with it everyday

aS I UNDERSTAND IT IS A DONE DEAL BETWEEN 19TH WARD AND DEPT HUMAN SEVICES AND THAT IT WILL BE A HOMELESS SHELTER FOR LOW OR NO INCOME FAMILIES, WHICH I THINK WILL BE WELCOME AFTER I WITNESSED THE GOINGS ON AT THE SSI PARADE LAST SUNDAY, THE OCCUPANTS OF THE PLANNED BUILDING CANT BE ANY WORSE THEN THE CELEBRANTS AT THE PARTIES AFTER THE PARADE,

Capital letter man strikes again.I BET HE WALKED FIVE MILES TO SCHOOL.

I hope capital letter man is joking about the homeless shelter. I think it should be razed and new homes put it. We have a park, they should open that up a few nights a week for open gym, the area schools should also open the gym, charge a few and pay off duty police to chaperone. Sell nachos, candy water, and pop, maybe hot chocolate in winter, set up an area for board games, an area for basketball and /or volleyball. Set an age limit and give them a place to hangout, eat and stay out of trouble. You could also require a signed "contract" from kids and parents to be on file before being admitted.

I beleive unfortunately that capital man is correct in his assumption that it will be a homeless shelter,19th ward mama knows all about it but is mum on orders of possibly soon indicted mayor, this is to appease the constituents in the west and south side ghettos of their own making, votes count dont they.

I have sent at least 2 emails to the ward office regarding this issue and have not received any response as of yet.

I vote for someone to donate a truckload of funds so they do not have to move.
