Home invasions 22nd District

For those who don't know yet, there have been two home invasions in Mt. Greenwood. The first in the 112th block of Whipple and the second in the 107th block of Drake. We do not live in Mayberry and we all must be vigilant about locking our doors (front and back). Look out for your neighbors. If you see someone suspicious, call the police! Luckily, nobody was seriously injured or worse and the offenders were caught in the 112th and Whipple incident.

Every single person should be calling the Aldermans Office in regards to the dramatic increase in crime in the area. Daily, no hourly police resources are being sent out of the area leaving it open for these kinds of things to happen. Bt 2211 is a very large bt with one car assigned to it. With this car being continually assigned to calls not only outside the bt but outside its sector it is only a matter of time before a serious injury happens in one of these break ins. And no, I am not talking about a broken bone or a little worse, I talking about a gun shot that kills someone. When the car is being sent off the bt it is being blocked not only by one but two railroad tracks that we have all been caught at and know that takes over ten minutes for a train to pass. What happens when you have that person in your house with a gun and you call 911 only to have your bt car stuck at the tracks because it was over on the east end of the district and not on our bt.

The Alderman needs to be held accountable, she sits on the Police/Fire Board and has a large voice in Police matters

We all know who lives here in the area and WHO DOES NOT! If you see these CANADIANS and they are looking into backyards walking through the alleys (which is against the LAW [City ordinance]). Be sure to have them challenged call 911 it is not RACIST to protect what we have in this neighborhood. By the way, these neanderthals want you to feel afraid, lets give them a taste of what it means to TRESPASS!!

Starting this blog is a great idea. I didn't even know about the one on Drake. Thanks, keep it up.

That was not a home invasion on Drake. All the parties knew one another and the bad guys were invited in and later assualted the owner(s).

It really doesn't matter what the exact details of the incident on Drake were, what's important is that we're ALL aware of the fact that the Police cannot protect us. I've never seen anyone walking around with a Cop strapped to them and a 911 call isn’t going to do you a bit of good when some scumbag kicks your door in. The Police will probably arrive just in time to clean up the blood and put you in a body bag. It is our God given Right to protect ourselves and our obligation to protect our families. To Hell with Daley's draconian and un-Constitutional gun ban laws, arm yourselves.

Daley has the luxury of having a taxpayer funded, armed CPD security detail around him & his family 24/7, we don't. Our Alderman can also legally carry arms for their protection. Are their families more valuable than our?..........I DON'T F#@KING THINK SO!

Keep your doors locked, think of getting an alarm and be extra vigilant of your surroundings. It's only going to get worse as the economy deteriorates.

I know I call all the time on the neighborhood kids that ride up and down around my house on these little 2 and 4 wheelers and they never show. If I remember my rules of the road that is illegal and should be dealt with. I would feel horrible if I backed out of my driveway and hit one of those kids. We see them and I tell my kids that is illegal and if I ever catch them doing it they are going to be real sorry.
But my point here is just like everyone else I call and get no response. The cops in 2211 might be good people but they are not here to do their job and the city nor the alderman give a sh*t.
We need to protect ourselves and our neighbors. We need to be vigilant. We need to protect what's ours and be there for our neighbors. Keep you eyes open and your phone close. If they get enough calls and get sick of it maybe they will do something about it.

I'm the Mrs. Cravitz of my block. I call all the time when there is something that is not right. I have called numerous times on the kids that keep riding around in the street on 2 and 4 wheelers. There is never a response by the bt car. If I remember correctly from my rules of the road those are illegal on city streets. I tell my kids when we see them that if I ever see them doing that they will be in major trouble. Point is there is no response from 2211. I doubt it ever gets as far as the beat car anyway. You can just hear it in the voice of the dispatcher.
We need to be more vigilant and keep an eye on our neighborhood and call when we see anything. We need to be involved. Not the CAPS meetings though, those are a joke.
I would like to know when the alderman has meetings with respect to our ward. Can those become part of this blog as well.

Someone tried to break into my neighbors house Tues. afternoon. They cut the screen to the window but they couldn't open the window and left. So everyone should be careful who they open the door for and call the police if you see anyone being suspicious. I live in E.P. on 101st PL.

Calling all citizens of Mt. Greenwood.
Calling all citizens of Mt. Greenwood.
You must not sit idly by when it is election time!
You must call your alderman's office and state your dissatisfaction with the 111th Street project and lack of salt and snow plowing and blowing of stop signs and speeding and crime and a 5 and a half hour school day for Mt. Greenwood School Children the list goes on and on but the silent majority wins every time! SAY SOMETHING, THEN TAKE ACTION!

To JimMcMahon

CPD does not put people in a body bag any more, Daley privatized that also.

On December 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. there was another robbery at 110th and Rockwell. Two people were getting into their car and they were held up by three people with guns and masks on. One was caught and identified.
